It's not that we don't want to use leather from Czech production a priori. Rather, the snag is that there is virtually no feasible way to do it.
From a historical point of view, the Czech tradition of leather production was strongest in manufactories at the end of the 18th century and continued during the 19th century as a result of the industrial revolution in the form of machine processing. After 1989, however, the leather industry gradually declines, famous brands go bankrupt and, unfortunately, the vast majority of domestic tanneries also disappear.
At REDFIR, based on testing, we have an exact idea of what kind and quality of leather is optimal for the production of belts, so that they meet all the ideas and demands for first-class leather accessories. We care that our belts are comfortable and remain beautiful even after years of wear, without cracks or holes.
It is therefore not easy - and at present perhaps not even practically possible - to find suitable leathers here in the Czech Republic, without the factors mentioned above, together with the custom processing of raw leather in a small tannery, fundamentally affecting the price of the finished belt and it rising above an acceptable level.
What is going on in the Czech Republic?
From the first design of the belt to the final assembly of the finished product - everything happens in the country. We are led to this by many practical reasons as well as our personal interest and motivation.
Belts are created in a local workshop with almost 30 years of leather production tradition. Our packaging, such as boxes or textile bags, also comes from Czech companies, which we take from a protected workshop. In this way, we also help people with limited earning possibilities, which has another dimension for us.
Thanks to the domestic production, we can personally go to the production at any time, find the best solution and be sure that the belts will really be tuned to the last detail for comfortable wearing.
In general, even belts without holes were not at all common here before. We diversified the domestic market with an innovative type of product that brings comfort to people on a daily basis.
What made Italian leather win the hearts of many Czech manufacturers?
The search for suitable material for our belts took us directly to Italy. The leather there has become synonymous with quality for us, just as it has for many other Czech and international companies.
Italian leather is defined not only by its local origin, but also by its production method. During its processing, it goes through specific processes that have been perfected for hundreds of years and are at a very high level today.
Thanks to them, the finished leather accessory is softer, more pleasant and more comfortable to wear. At the same time, it offers strength and increased resistance to mechanical wear.
